A farm advocacy group is calling on the Trump administration to respond to rising fertilizer prices linked to the conflict in the Middle East. Farm Action, a farmer-led watchdog organization, has sent a letter to President Donald Trump requesting federal action to prevent potential price gouging in fertilizer markets. The letter was also sent to the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Economic Council. Farm Action says fertilizer prices have increased since the war with Iran began, in part because the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted global shipments and limited supplies reaching the United States. The group is urging federal agencies to closely monitor fertilizer markets as the conflict continues.
