Minnesota is among the states challenging President Donald Trump’s new global tariff plan. A coalition of 24 Democratic state attorneys general and governors, including Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Court of International Trade seeking to block the administration’s new 10 percent tariff on imports. The lawsuit argues the tariffs are unconstitutional and violate federal law. The states are asking the court to stop the tariffs from taking effect and to require the federal government to refund any costs collected while they were in place. Minnesota officials say the tariffs could raise costs for consumers and businesses across the state. The White House had not commented on the lawsuit at the time it was filed.
