The American Malting Barley Association has released its first-ever emissions report. The study was conducted to outline the barley industry’s sustainability story. The total carbon intensity score was 15.7 pounds per carbon equivalent for every bushel of barley produced. Thirty-three farms who produced barley on contract for malting or brewing companies provided data for the pilot project. It reviewed everything from soil type and crop yield to water management.
