The Beef Quality Assurance program continues to evolve. Towner rancher Jason Zahn is a director of the North Dakota Beef Commission and a past president of the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association. In his view, BQA now focuses on biosecurity. When it first started out, it was a lot about the placement of the shots and the facility management for loading the cattle,” said Zahn. “I think we’re seeing more of it going to the science-based stuff, including how to handle screwworm.” Zahn appreciates that proactive approach.
