More than 55 agriculture groups, led by the American Farm Bureau Federation, are urging Congress to provide additional farm assistance as rural communities face growing financial pressures. Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman and Agriculture Appropriations Committee Chairman John Hoeven are backing expanded aid in the upcoming continuing resolution, building on President Trump’s Farmer Bridge Assistance program. “Resilience and hard work are not enough to withstand the significant challenges farmers face,” Boozman said, stressing the need to maintain a safe, affordable food supply. Hoeven added, “This assistance will provide additional support for row crops, specialty crops, sugar beets, prevent plant acres, and help producers manage higher costs of production.” The proposal would expand coverage under the FBA program, provide separate funds for losses above national averages, support specialty crop and sugar producers, and increase farm ownership and operating loan limits to improve access to credit during this challenging period.
