Corn saw a sharp increase in diseases this year. “I’ve had a lot of conversations with farmers about what can be done with these corn diseases we’re seeing in the Northern Plains,” said Andrew Friskop, plant pathologist, NDSU Extension. “It’s something that we need to be monitoring frequently.” Friskop said variety selection in spring wheat has also been a hot topic. “We have some great new variety releases coming out of NDSU; the good news is we have very highly productive varieties that can withstand disease.”
