Feedback Sought on Foreign Land Ownership Reporting Requirements

A notice has been published in the Federal Register seeking public comments on potential changes to the reporting requirement for foreign land ownership. The issue of foreign ownership of farmland has been in the news since 2021, when a Chinese company, Fufeng, purchased land in Grand Forks to build a manufacturing plant. The Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act has not been updated in nearly 30 years.
