Over the weekend, President Trump signed an executive order to address price-fixing, anti-competitive behavior and foreign influence throughout the U.S. food supply chain. The Attorney General and the chairman of the Federal Trade Commission will establish a food supply chain security task force to investigate the Trump Administration’s concerns. These task forces will also be empowered to bring enforcement action. The executive order cited meat processing, seed, fertilizer and farm equipment as areas that may be vulnerable to price manipulation.
