North Dakota is on track to reach 100 percent connectivity by 2028. If that happens, North Dakota has the potential to be the first state in the country to reach that high-speed internet goal. North Dakota Information Technology Broadband Program Director Brian Newby credits the federal approval of its plan to distribute broadband infrastructure grants. Eliminating high-speed internet ‘deserts’ in rural areas remains a policy priority in many states.
