Horse owners are advised to monitor for two virus outbreaks. EHV-1 and EHM have been confirmed in horse events in Texas and Oklahoma. The viruses can be spread through direct contact, through air and on contaminated equipment, clothing and hands. For biosecurity purposes, horse owners are asked to avoid nose-to-nose contact and the sharing of food or water containers.
