At the end of this past week, American Crystal Sugar Company growers were down to the last few fields to harvest. Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association Executive Director Harrison Weber says yields have been impressive, with tonnage reaching the upper end of expectations. “Anytime we’re hearing 30-ton plus, we’re excited about that,” said Weber. “Sugar content may be a hair lower than we’d like to see, but it continues to rise as this last couple of percent has been in the ground longer. I think we’ll finish somewhere around 18 percent.”
