A quarter section of land north of East Grand Forks sold for $11,500 per acre this past Thursday. Amy Nikolaisen, who is a partner in Nikolaisen Land Company, said it was a highly productive piece of ground in a good location. “We weren’t sure what it would bring because Sullivan Township hasn’t had any comps for quite a few years, so the comparables that we used were from surrounding townships,” said Nikolaisen. “That got us in the $7,000-$7,500 (per acre) area.” There were 66 bids on the property and the land sold well. Land values are holding firm despite low commodity prices. Nikolaisen credits a good harvest. “I also think there is optimism with (President) Trump going to come with more money, and a lot of young guys are using Beginning Farmer programs and I think that helps.” Nikolaisen Land Company is based in Cando, with offices also located in Devils Lake, Grand Forks, and Linton.
