Corn harvest in South Dakota is in high gear. Dairyland Seed District Sales Manager Keith Rekow says, despite the significant amount of moisture they’ve received, most of what he’s hearing from farmers has been positive. “For the most part, their corn is around 16 and 17 percent moisture, and some pushing up to the low 20s; guys are pretty happy with the yields so far.” With all the moisture that hit the state this growing season, Rekow says they’ve seen their fair share of disease pressure. “We’ve seen some southern rust, but not big amounts, and a little bit of northern corn leaf blight in some areas that we didn’t expect.”
