U.S. farmers are expected to shift more acres to soybeans next year while cutting back on corn and wheat. S&P Global Commodity Insights projects 2026 corn plantings at 96 million acres, soybeans at 83 million acres, and total wheat at 44.4 million acres. That would mean corn acreage drops by 2.7 million acres and wheat by just under one million, while soybeans increase by nearly two million acres compared to 2025.
