President Donald Trump said he expects China to open its market to U.S. soybeans. It will be on the agenda when Trump meets with Chinese President Xi at the end of this month. During Thursday’s cabinet meeting, Trump touted the Phase One Trade Agreement that was signed in 2020. “They used to do $15 billion (in ag trade) and I got it up to $50 billion. When Biden got in, they just never adhered to the agreement and nobody in Biden’s group did anything about it so it just sat there for four years.” Trump said the Phase One trade deal ushered in a time of prosperity for U.S. agriculture. “Remember, I said to the farmers to buy larger tractors and more land and that’s exactly what happened; they did well.”
