The American Farm Bureau Federation has announced Dr. John Newton’s return to the organization. Newton will serve as vice president of public policy and economic analysis. He previously served as Farm Bureau’s chief economist from 2018 to 2021. After that, Newton served three years as chief economist for the Senate Agriculture Committee and the past year as the executive head of Terrain. Newton succeeds Sam Kieffer, who was named the chief executive officer for the National Association of Wheat Growers. Newton was part of the Red River Farm Network forums at this year’s Big Iron Farm Show.
