A federal judge has denied USDA’s attempt to dismiss a lawsuit dealing with the mandate for electronic animal identification. The requirement for EID tags on certain classes of beef cattle, dairy cattle and bison took effect nearly a year ago. The lawsuit was filed by R-CALF USA, the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association, the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance and individual ranchers. These groups allege the USDA rule was ‘arbitrary and capricious.’
