Compared to the August report, USDA bumped U.S. corn and soybean production in the September Supply and Demand Report. Corn production increased 72 million bushels to a record 16.8 billion bushels. Planted acreage rose 1.4 million acres. The average corn yield went from 188.8 bushels per acre last month to 186.7 bushels per acre. Soybean production increased slightly from August, totaling 4.3 billion bushels. The average soybean yield is forecast at 53.5 bushels per acre. USDA left wheat production unchanged at 1.9 billion bushels. The wheat production forecast will be updated at the end of the month with the Small Grains Summary.
