During U.S.-Chinese trade talks in July, trade groups, law firms, and government agencies received an email that appeared to come from the chairman of the House Committee on Strategic Competition. However, the email apparently came from Chinese hackers. It is alleged that China was hoping to deploy spyware and gain an advantage in the negotiations. Chinese officials said the allegations are not true.
