According to the Purdue University-CME Group Ag Economy Barometer, farmer sentiment is at its lowest point since last September. Attitudes varied widely depending on whether the farm’s focus is on crops or livestock. Twenty-two percent of the survey respondents said they expect their 2026 operating loan to be larger than it was this year. Most farmers expect farmland values to continue to rise. However, three-quarters of the farmers surveyed said they expect next year’s cash rents to remain unchanged from this year.
