According to an internal EPA document obtained by Politico, the Trump Administration will soon eliminate federal protection for many wetlands. A new Clean Water Act rule would reportedly have the government regulate wetlands if it met a two-part standard. Number one, it would need to contain surface water throughout the ‘wet season.’ Secondly, the wetlands would need to touch a river, stream or other water body that flows throughout the wet season. This change would require fewer permits.
