The Food and Drug Administration has been authorized to issue emergency use of animal drugs to treat or prevent infestations of New World Screwworm. The FDA commissioner said their priority is to safeguard both animal health and the nation’s food supply. New World Screwworm has been found less than 400 miles south of the U.S. border at Veracruz.
