Pioneer Field Agronomist Larry Lunder says that while the moisture has slowed harvest for some crops, it’s been a boost for other crops. “It’s certainly been good for the corn, the soybeans, and the sunflowers,” said Lunder. “Corn is pretty well through pollination, soybeans are in the R4 stage with pods being formed, and sunflowers are anywhere from in full bloom to beginning to bloom.” Looking ahead, Lunder says the final weeks of the growing season will be critical. “Things right now look about as good as they can look for August,” said Lunder. “Now we start shifting our concern to will there be enough heat to finish off these late-season crops. September is always a little bit of a roll of the dice.”
