Energy Secretary Chris Wright says North Dakota is driving American energy innovation. During a visit to Grand Forks, Wright highlighted Cracking the Code 2.0, a project designed to significantly boost oil recovery. “When we produce oil in unconventional reservoirs today, we get about ten percent of the oil out; 90 percent remains underground. Cracking the Code 2.0 is to take that ten percent to 20 percent, maybe more, doubling the recoverable oil.” Wright credited North Dakota’s leadership for transforming the U.S. into an energy powerhouse. “That was the tip that pushed the United States from being the largest importer of oil in the world to today, the largest exporter of natural gas in the world and a rapidly growing exporter of oil.”
