While recent budget reconciliation efforts secured important gains, including improvements to ARC and PLC programs, crop insurance, and extending the sugar program to 2031, Minnesota Congressman Brad Finstad says more work remains. “We accomplished a lot in the reconciliation process, but the job’s not done. There are still pieces of the farm bill that we have to do.” Finstad highlighted California’s Prop 12 as a serious threat to livestock producers. “Prop 12 will have to be a part of the next version because it is one of the most devastating things that we have going on right now,” he said. “If you’re a medium to small-sized hog farmer in this country and you’re forced with the Prop 12 mandates, it will put you out of business.” Listen to the RRFN interview.
