Commodity prices have softened, but farmland values continue to rise. The farm real estate values nationwide are up more than four percent from 2024. According to the USDA Farmland Values Summary, South Dakota had the biggest bump in land values for this year, up nearly seven percent, averaging $2,970 per acre. In Minnesota, land values approach $6,800 per acre, up 5.3 percent. Farm real estate in North Dakota is averaging nearly $2,400 per acre, up 4.4 percent from a year ago. Cropland rental rates are unchanged from last year in Minnesota, up four percent in South Dakota and up two percent in North Dakota.
