Farmers attending the Ag PhD Field Day in Baltic, South Dakota, received direct agronomic insight from Hefty Seed Agronomist and Ag Chem Lead Jacob Gubbels, who stressed the importance of disease and weed management to protect yield potential this season. “We’ve got a setup for a really great crop,” said Gubbels. On the soybean side, weed pressure from waterhemp remains a challenge. Gubbels said timing makes all the difference. “I can build you the best chemistry program in the world to control any weed you want; the biggest problem is timing,” he explained. “We’ve got to keep our timings tight and we’ve got to have a plan before we go in.”
