True armyworms are causing severe feeding injury in lodged grain fields from storms in North Dakota and western Minnesota. According to the NDSU Crop and Pest Report, caterpillars completely defoliated leaves and grain heads were clipped off. Most fields are approaching maturity so an insecticide with a short pre-harvest interval must be selected.
