Severe thunderstorms swept across eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota early Sunday morning, delivering damaging winds and heavy rainfall. The National Weather Service recorded a peak wind gust of 79 miles per hour near Larimore, North Dakota. Other strong gusts included 73 miles per hour east of Emerado, 70 near Fisher, Minnesota, and 68 miles per hour just west of Grand Forks. Damage was widespread. In Ramsey County, a large outbuilding north of Crary sustained major damage when a lean-to roof was torn off. In Grand Forks, a twelve-inch diameter tree was knocked onto a house, and storm spotters reported broken branches and debris scattered across town. Meanwhile, Morris, Minnesota, picked up more than four inches of rain, adding flash flooding to the list of storm impacts.
