Custom harvester Shawn Gallagher, who is based near Sterling, North Dakota, says the harvest in the central part of the state is just days away from starting. “There’s some winter rye that looks pretty good, we’ll probably combine that in the next four or five days,” said Gallagher. “We’ve got some yellow peas that’ll be ready probably in the next ten days, and then spring wheat will be right on top of that.” Gallagher said crop conditions are holding up well, despite localized hail events. “We’ve had quite a bit of hail in this area, but nothing that, for the most part, wiped the crops out,” said Gallagher. “We’ve had a lot of moisture, and the crops look really good.”
