Farmland values held mostly steady for the first half of 2025. AgCountry Farm Credit Services tracks land values on 23 benchmark farms every January and July. North Dakota’s premium cropland was stable. Western counties were helped by the energy sector, but land values softened in southern North Dakota. Minnesota values are down four percent from July, but still near all-time highs. High-yield farmland in northern Minnesota is in demand, but there was less buyer enthusiasm in southern Minnesota. Irrigated potato acres in the Park Rapids-Alexandria area held their values. AgCountry reports real estate activity was below levels seen in recent years in Minnesota. In North Dakota, public auctions declined, but private transfers went up.
