An attack by Houthi rebels on a cargo ship on the Red Sea resulted in the death of two crew members. This was the second attack on a ship in this region in the past week. These incidents are the first assault on a commercial ship since December. It is also the first attack since President Trump declared a cease-fire between the United States and the Houthis in May. The Red Sea is a critical shipping route, especially for container shipments, between Asia and Europe. The only other route goes south and around the Horn of Africa, increasing costs and travel time.
