Trade tensions between the United States and China have cost American farmers $2 billion in lost exports so far this year. A study from North Dakota State University shows U.S. ag exports to China dropped by over $5 billion between January and April, with export volumes down as much as 55 percent from last year. While exports to other regions like South Asia, the EU, and Central America increased, those gains weren’t enough to make up for the losses in the Chinese market.
