Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins is using USDA’s authority to increase funding for meat and poultry inspection. An additional $14.5 million is being made available to increase the reimbursement rate for state meat inspection programs. Rollins said this is not a sustainable way to deliver meat inspection programs and called on Congress to address the budget shortfall in the future.
