An $8.5 million settlement with JBS has received preliminary approval as a class-action lawsuit. This case was brought by R-CALF USA, individual ranchers and the National Farmers Union. The case filed in 2019 alleges antitrust violations by JBS, Tyson, Cargill and National Beef. The litigation with the other three companies is ongoing. Cattle feeders eligible to participate in the JBS settlement must submit claims by mid-September.
