American Soybean Association President Caleb Ragland voiced frustration over the Make America Healthy Again Commission’s new report, criticizing both its content and the lack of transparency behind its development. “Production agriculture didn’t really have a seat at the table, it was all done in secret behind closed doors.” Ragland took particular issue with the report’s treatment of crop protection tools like glyphosate and atrazine, saying these products have long-standing scientific support and are already reviewed by federal agencies. “This is a flat-out attack on the livelihood of the American farmer,” he said. “It’s deeply troubling and alarming that they would come up with this type of a radical report that is lacking the facts to back up what they’ve said.” Ragland urged President Trump to intervene and ensure that sound science and farmer input guide future policymaking.
