Cattle markets are surging with record-high prices reported at local auction barns. Brad Thelen, owner, Long Prairie Livestock, says demand is strong across all classes, including dairy, beef, and crossbred calves. Holstein springers are topping out at $3,850, with baby beef calves reaching up to $1,450. Even cull and fat cattle are bringing historic prices, with quality beef cows selling between $154 and $195 per hundredweight. “What a market. That’s all I can say,” said Thelen.
