The United States and the United Kingdom have announced a new trade deal. The details are still being worked out, but it is designed to increase market access for both countries. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins was part of the Oval Office announcement. Specific to the beef sector, Rollins said the agreement will “exponentially” increase U.S. beef exports. “To be very clear, American beef is the safest, the best quality, and the Crown Jewel of American agriculture for the world.” British officials are saying the agreement won’t undermine their strict environmental and animal welfare standards. Regarding ethanol, tariffs will be reduced from 19 percent to zero. Rollins praised the announcement. “I don’t know if there is an industry that has been treated more unfairly and has suffered more than our agricultural industries.”
