Georgia-based Cross Plains Solutions has been making SoyFoam for firefighting for three years. Managing Partner Alan Snipes says what started as a training tool for fire departments has turned into an environmentally friendly and safer option for fighting fires. “During the testing process, once they had put the pallet fires out, they were unable to relight them for further testing and they said it looked like we had created something more than a training foam.” Snipes says most of the soy meal used for production is sourced from the Upper Midwest. “North Dakota has been a godsend for us. They have embraced this product. It’s phenomenal, the growth that we’ve had up there. Casselton Fire Department was the first to switch over up there.”
