This spring season started on the dry side in south-central North Dakota. Kenny Schmidt, who is a farmer/rancher at Solen, said recent rains improved the conditions slightly, allowing planting to begin. “We’re seeding into moisture and field conditions are pretty good.” Schmidt, who grows wheat, corn, and sunflowers, estimates 25 percent of his wheat is in the ground. “It’s early for the corn yet.”
