Fieldwork is gradually beginning in North Dakota, with only three days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending April 13, according to USDA NASS. Dry conditions persist, with 48 percent of topsoil and 55 percent of subsoil rated short to very short. So far, 3 percent of spring wheat is planted, along with 1% of barley, oats, and durum wheat. Most farmers expect full field operations to begin by April 23.
