President Donald Trump is threatening Mexico with tariffs and sanctions in a dispute over water. Since the mid-1940s, the U.S. and Mexico have had a water treaty. The U.S. shares water from the Colorado River with Mexico and Mexico delivers water from the Rio Grande to U.S. farmers. A four-year drought has impacted the water supply. In a social media post, Trump said the consequences will increase until Mexico honors the water treaty.
