A bill giving counties and townships the option to utilize an odor footprint tool for livestock zoning cleared the North Dakota House Agriculture Committee with a 9-5 ‘do pass’ recommendation. Five Republican members opposed the bill, and one lawmaker said it “isn’t ready for prime-time.” Chairman Mike Beltz said other issues that had nothing to do with the core language of the bill were brought into the discussion. “The other stuff is extraneous to it; let’s stick to what’s in the bill rather than wandering off.” This bill is part of an effort to support livestock production in the state.
