The U.S. Trade Representative’s Office has scheduled a hearing to consider an investigation into China’s control of the shipbuilding industry. At the same time, the White House is drafting an executive order that imposes fines of $1 million and more every time Chinese-made ships enter U.S. ports. The American Farm Bureau Federation Market Intel service said this proposal ‘may unintentionally and disproportionately penalize U.S. farmers and ranchers who depend on exports.
