USDA has cut over $1 billion in funding for local food purchases at schools and food banks. The Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program and Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program promoted food purchases from within the state or within 400 miles of the local school or food shelf. In a statement, USDA said these programs were created under the Biden Administration and “no longer effectuate the goals of the agency.”
