North Dakota Senator John Hoeven acknowledged the uncertainty facing farmers over tariffs but emphasized the importance of market access and fair trade. “President Trump’s goal is to get us more access to markets on a fairer basis and that’s a goal we all share but in the short term is there a disruption, of course,” Hoeven told RRFN. “We understand that and we’re working very closely with (Agriculture Secretary )Brooke Rollins and the ag team. We think she’s going to do a good job. She’s very close to President Trump so that’s very helpful and we do have some experience working with President Trump on tariffs. We did the first round with Sonny Perdue and ultimately got to a place where we got more ag sales.” In the interview, Hoeven also voiced a familiar theme, saying “our farmers and ranchers produce the highest quality, lowest cost food supply in the world that benefits every single American.” Click here to listen to the full interview.
