A bill was heard in the North Dakota Legislature this past week that would have increased the time for the Oilseed Council to receive refund applications from 90 days to one years from the assessment. Dan Wogsland represented the North Dakota Grain Growers in his testimony. “House Bill 1509 threatens the stability of the entire checkoff system which is vital to improve profitability, develop international and domestic markets and providing essential education programs for producers and consumers.” The Senate Agriculture Committee made a unanimous ‘do not pass’ recommendation.
