This past year was another banner year for U.S. pork exports. National Pork Board Senior Vice President of Market Growth David Newman said the industry will keep its foot on the pedal in the international markets, but work needs to be done on the domestic front. “We are launching a new consumer-facing marketing plan and campaign,” Newman told RRFN. “This is about celebrating the things that drive consumers to pork; things like flavor and its ability to be in numerous cuisines.” A fresh approach targeting Millennials and Gen Z’s will be seen with the new marketing strategy. “We don’t raise pigs the way we raised pigs 40 years ago, we can’t expect to market pork to them the same way we did 40 years ago.”
