Farmers for Free Trade are concerned the Trump tariffs on steel and aluminum will prompt retaliation against U.S. agriculture. When the Section 232 tariffs were imposed in 2018, Executive Director Brian Kuehl said the targeted countries responded with tariffs on everything from pork to soybeans. To support the general economy, Kuehl said the U.S. should expand exports and not make farm and food products a target.
