Strong markets have cattle producers excited. “There is a buzz here at CattleCon that we have not seen in quite some time,” said Colin Woodall, CEO, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. He pointed to record cattle prices and hopes for reduced regulations as key factors driving producer confidence. One major policy focus is the long-delayed farm bill, which Woodall believes could finally happen this year. “I don’t think it’s going to be easy and I sure don’t think it’s going to be fast.” A top priority is funding for the Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccine Bank.
